Moving to Utah!!

Posted by Lauren under Updates
I just wanted to give an update and let everyone know that I will be relocating to Utah in the Orem/Provo area at the beginning of July.  I've loved being in California. There is so much beauty everywhere you look, but it will be nice to be able to experience all that Utah has to offer. I hope to be able to show everyone some amazing new work within the first few weeks of being there. Until July, I'm still scheduling portrait shoots in Southern California, but I'm also accepting reservations for portrait sessions in Salt Lake and Utah counties. If you want to schedule something, send me a message through my contact page.  I also offer digital restoration and retouching. Or visit my store to view some photos that are available for print purchases. ~Lauren  :-)

Welcome!!

Welcome to LaurenSilcock.com and to my blog! I'm really excited to be able to share with you about my current projects, as well as let you in on some of my tips for being in pictures and even taking pictures. When I was about 10 years old, I looked out my bedroom window and saw a beautiful sunset. I wanted to capture what I was looking at so I could see it over and over again. The way the colors blended together, it was like someone had splashed paint in all my favorite colors across the sky. So I decided that I would draw it, exactly as I saw it, and then I would be able to see it as often as I wanted. It didn't take me long to realize that drawing wasn't one of my strongest talents... So I started taking pictures. The first time I felt like a real photographer was during a family trip to Yellowstone. I took rolls and rolls of film and used it all. And although I don't know what happened to most of those images, I still have the pictures that came from one of those rolls. I loved those pictures. I carried them around with me everywhere so I could show people all the "pretty things" that I saw. I have been taking pictures ever since. I've had a bit more experience now, and learned a great deal about what makes a photo beautiful. I still love to take pictures of landscapes and flowers, but I have expanded my interest to portraits of people. I now also love making people look amazing! I hope you enjoy visiting my website! Please always feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Remember to always see the beauty in everything: Every mountain, every flower, every person.
